Passion

These are projects that have excited me to make. Some were made in school, while others were made because I was driven to make them. In here, I experiment more outside my comfort zone and approach the work with play.

Tow’rs Poster

Tow’rs is an Indie-Folk band. The music they create has a unique ability to move the soul. Their authentic, raw lyrics speak true to the honesty how life really is. They wrote a song called “Girl in Calico, which is what the figure in this image is based off. The Hand-drawn type speaks to the humanity in their music. This was created to be an 11x17 print and was layered with four colors for screen-print format.

Eurostile Type Specimen

This is a four-fold mailer that a Typography Foundry would send away to entice clients to purchase a typeface, in this case, being Eurostile. It is double sided and the theme that extends throughout is that all roads lead to the future, which is because Eurostile is a geometric futuristic typeface.

Detach App

This project was an idea for a mobile application that will guide the user through five outdoor locations based on what area they wish to go to. The user can do it all in one day, or choose to do one during a lunch-break.

The hope is that my users can detach from their hectic lives, breathe in the fresh air, and go home with a clearer head.

Detach Web Ads

A 15, 30, and 60 second video advertisement campaign was created to advertise for and promote the Detach mobile application. These would be found on Youtube, Spotify, and other online user content hubs. All footage was shot with a Nikon D4200 Camera.

Research Photos

As a graphic designer, I find it important to stretch what that means. I photographed all the photos featured within the app. With that in mind, I journeyed throughout the parks of Harlem to research the type of content I would create within the app. My adventure to the city also proved to show me how close the parks were, how realistic the concept was, and what it is like to live in the shoes of my audience.

Essential Fruit Juice

This was originally a school project, but I enjoyed it so much that I would call it a passion project. My pitch for it goes a little like…

Essential fruit Juice is made with the most natural ingredients we can ethically source. We provide you with the organic and Fair-Trade certified fruit essentials that you need for your day. We aim to attract young people, ages 15-30 to instill a healthy lifestyle in their lives.

Watercolor paint is used to communicate a more natural representation of juice. Watercolor texture is used on the hand-done logotype. The watercolor painting of fruit is displayed on the lower part of the Tetrapak.

Va TV Network

VA was another fun project for me and I put myself into the concept for it. The pitch is an adventure channel that inspires viewers to go beyond the lives they are currently living. The programs show average people doing adventureous, activities. From slackline, to taking a walk in the city. This is a channel that takes ordinary things and makes them look extraordinary.

The intended audience is teenagers to young adults. This channel wishes to capture the excitement of life so that the audience can harness in their daily lives.

Illuminate

Each and every one of us has a purpose in this world. I was inspired by the gospel passage, "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden." Matthew 5:14. From this gospel I understand that we all have our gifts to shine into the world, into the darkness. We all shine our lights differently. The reality is that we are in a world of both light and dark. This display, based off of the word, Illuminate, shows the light within the world. Each bulb is uniquely painted, literal bulbs, and the paintings. No bulb is exactly the same, just as we are not, and instead are unique within this incredible planet. We have so much power, yet so often we are told that we cannot change the world. We hear so often, "One person cannot change the world." This is a lie. Shine your light wherever you go and whoever you're with because you were made to.

Materials

This was made with gouache paint and laundry detergent. The physical objects were painted with acrylic paint, strung with nylon, and duct taped together. On the floor is a painted canvas with LED lights wound around the lights. The two big bulbs were wired and painted as well. This was an installation piece in the Sun Yet Sen Yeh Art Gallery, NY.
